Listening to Music - Thearly Years

Sound Freaks Unite

And I mean that in a nice way…

I’ve always had a fascination with music and electronics.  When I was in elemetary scool, when my mom took us to the mall.  I

would say “mom” I’m going to “Federated” (like Circuit City) or when I got older, I would go to Leo’s Stero, which was in the

same shopping center, I just had to cross the parking lot on my own.  I would spend practically the whole time in there just

gazing and inhaling the intoxicating scent of “warmed-up” electrical gear.  I would tell myself I’m going to buy one of these

and one of these and I’ll need two of those.

One of the biggest desires I ever had t Christmas time was when I was in the 5th grade and wanted an am/fm tape recorder

player.  WOW! That was cool!  It wasn’t even stereo, but I could record music from KISS FM and play it over and over again.

But back then, life was rough and you had to practically tape record a fw hours to get that song you wanted.  Not to mention

my pesky older sister who kept screwing with my recordings.  She even once recorded over one of my tapes!  Dang! if I was

ever really mad in my life, it was on that day!

Ok… sorry, this isn’t about bashing my older sister.  But it feels good to get that off my chest after 33 years!

So suddenly, my tape recorder was cool any more because it only had ONE speaker.  So next years Christmas… Santa… I need

STEREO!  Now this posed some other problms because now my sister needed to use BOTH my recorders so she could play one and

aim it at the other while it recorded.  Now this pissed me off again.  Despite the fact that I didn’t like to share at that

age, she is now hogging up MY tape recorders.  DAMMIT!

So being the angel-like brother that I am.. I naturally had to find a way to sabotage her recordings.  Which I did, but I

guess I didn’t think it through to well because we got in a fight!  Usually when this happened, I’m screwed!  I made the

mistake one time of hitting her back and boy did my dad get upset.  He only had to tell me that once and from that point

on… I was defenseless against her.

Anyway, since she was older and in high school now, she didn’t have time to mess with my stuff.  Well the recorders anyway.

My roller skates are another story!
